Barbecues in parks banned in North Shore Municipalities until further notice
Jul 14, 2017
With continuing hot weather and dry conditions, the three North Shore Fire Chiefs are banning the use of barbecues in parks and beaches effective today.
All barbecues, including briquette and gas-fuelled as well as outdoor ovens and burners, are prohibited to reduce the risk of accidental fire in the District of North Vancouver, District of West Vancouver and City of North Vancouver.
All three municipalities are working together to keep people and property safe, and are asking residents to do their part.
How you can help keep us safe
You can call 604-543-6700 to report any unsafe fire activities they witness. A reminder that the Province has banned campfires and other outdoor burning in our region.
One of the biggest risks for causing wildfire is cigarette butts tossed from vehicles. Please do your part and dispose of all smoking materials safely.
For the safety of our community and forested areas, residents are asked to be vigilant while out walking on trails, and to report any sign of smoke or fire by calling 911 immediately.
Light showers are in the weather forecast for next week, but a day or two of cooler temperatures is unlikely to change conditions or the extreme fire rating.
