Ambleside Waterfront & Town Centre

Updated July 2017

On the waterfront, removal of two District-owned houses on Argyle Avenue means more public waterfront park space for all to enjoy — including at the upcoming Harmony Arts Festival, beginning August 4. That space has been landscaped and seeded.

The Spirit Trail is in place on Argyle Avenue from 13th Street to 18th Street. Much of it is vehicle-free, with thousands of walkers, runners and cyclists enjoying dedicated pathways along the waterfront.

Staff will soon be working with the community on preparing an Ambleside Town Centre plan as part of the Official Community Plan review

We’re widening the public engagement circle considerably by directly involving key external stakeholders on the project’s engagement team. That team will provide advice on key messaging and framing of events, formats and activities to promote broad participation by as many people as possible.

Ambleside Waterfront Concept Plan

After an extensive community consultation process, and building on four decades of work from the community, previous Councils and staff, the Ambleside Waterfront Concept Plan was endorsed by Council on Monday, June 13, 2016.
